I am regularly traveling for business and I have used Runfree half a dozen times. I have a high energy American Staffordshire and each time we pull onto the kennel driveway she gets excited. I know she gets a ton of exercise while she stays there because when I pick her up she is exhausted! They have a huge fenced field for the dogs which is great for them to burn energy and socialize under supervision. On my last trip away my dog developed a urinary tract infection and the staff at Runfree called me immediately to discuss what was happening and ask permission to give my dog some natural treatments. They kept me posted and I felt that my dog was in safe hands. Thanks Runfree.

Eric and Stanley/August 28, 2010

We have now boarded our dog three times at Run-Free, beginning in August 2009, and have been very pleased on each occasion with the experience our dog had. (We had previously boarded him at a place in Mission that was very good also, but was inconveniently distant from our home.) We decided to post a review because of the extraordinarily good service we received at our recent visit. Our dog was apparently stung by a bee or wasp while boarding there. (He tries to catch insects and does not seem to understand the consequences of doing so.) He had an extreme allergic reaction and almost stopped breathing. Karl rushed him to the Langley Animal Clinic right away and was able to get a message to our son in California so that he could contact the vet and give permission for our dog to get immediate treatment. It was only because of the vigilance and constant monitoring of the dogs by the owners of kennel that our dog was able to get treatment in time to save his life. If he had been staying at one of the kennels where the animal is unattended in a cage for much of the day, he likely would have died. When we arrived at the kennel to pick our dog up and discovered what had happened, I asked Karl if we owed any extra fee for what must have taken him a couple of hours to drive our dog to the animal clinic some 15 km away, wait there to see the vet and then drive back. He insisted that we owed nothing extra for the extra trouble he went to. We will definitely choose Run Free again the next time we board our dog

Kelly and Koda/July 20, 2001

I would not hesitate to strongly recommend “Run Free” to anyone looking
to board their dog. I have left my dog Koda with Jenny and Karl on
several occasions and have always picked up a happy but tired dog. She
has always enjoyed lots of exercise at the Run Free farm. Karl and
Jenny obviously love dogs and make it their priority to play with and
exercise the dogs that are staying with them. You can leave on your
vacation knowing your dog is in excellent hands.

Thanks for the video, I’ve only seen her run that fast when she’s running away from me. You weren’t kidding, she is really really tired, not even food motivated to wake up.

Laura, Todd & Darla/June 17, 2010

Our smart and energetic aussie shepherd mix Darla loves coming to Runfree for daycare fun and play time!  She is afraid of car rides, but as soon as we turn towards Runfree in the mornings, she knows right away where we are going and starts jumping around the backseat of the car.  Karl & Jenny have also helped us work through questions and concerns that many dog-parents have.  It’s always a stress free day for us knowing that she is at daycare, running her heart out and having a blast.  When we get home in the evening, she is generally “KO’d” for the rest of the night and even into the next day!  One of my favorite things to do is drive up the long drive and catch a glimpse Darla happily playing with her buddies in the big field.  We’ve also left Darla for overnight visits a number of times and she always comes home well cared for, tired, and happy.  We know we can trust Karl and Jenny with our fur-baby and that means a lot.

Cheryl McSweeney and Molly/ May 19, 2010

Our family has had many dogs during the years, since I seem to rescue the unwanted or sick ones. We have tried many kennels when we went away, but never found the results of our pets having enjoyed there stay.

A year ago when we were trying to find a kennel for our new dog Molly it was a very difficult time, not only is Molly deaf, but also needs extensive exercise since she is a border collie.  Most of the kennels we had in the past seemed to have the concrete slab areas with a little run just like you see in the pounds. Sure the dogs got some exercise but that really seemed to be a small walk around the kennels on a leash. Then I came across an article in the Langley Times about your kennel and the hydrotherapy pool. I called and talked to Karl and he assured me that Molly being deaf would be no problem at all. I came out for a tour of the facilities and was amazed. The fields were huge and the dogs were out having a great time chasing the balls and enjoying the exercise and fresh air. The kennels were clean and well kept and were natural, not concrete. We took a chance, and were amazed at the results when we came home.

Being Molly’s first time away from the family we were unsure how she would handle the kennel and being away from us. When we came to pick her up she was happy to see us, but really didn’t want to leave all her new friends. She took to you and your staff as if she had known you forever.

When we got her home she was so content she curled up slept on the couch for hours, which was great, since we still had to unpack from our trip. She was so well taken care of and it was so evident that she had a great time.

The next time we went away we took her back to RunFree. We didn’t even get to your driveway and she got all excited and could hardly wait to get out of the car.  She pulled so hard on the leash to get to Karl, she was so happy to see him again, I knew that this was the place for her.

We have no problem taking Molly to RunFree when we go away.  Your kennel is the first one I have been to that leaves me feeling guilt free for leaving her behind, because she is so happy to go on her own vacation at RunFree. Thank you again for all that you do with Molly J.

   Eni and Rowdy/April 16, 2010

When I left Rowdy at Runfree for the first time we were a bit concerned as it was her first time being away from us. While she was at the kennel Karl and Jenny kept us up to date on how she was doing –  we even got pictures of her playing ball with her new friends! And she stayed at the royal suite!  Last time I dropped her off she greeted Karl with a big kiss on his face and she looked really happy to be there again.    Since we’ve been leaving her at Runfree she is getting along way better with people and other dogs. And she even started to drop the ball on command! Thanks Karl and Jennie and see you soon!”

Daegan and Milo /March, 2010

I just wanted to let you know how great Milo has been since he’s been home. I’m not sure if it was the amount of exercise he got out there, or Juan’s dog whispering, but he’s a much calmer, more self-assured little guy. Juan mentioned he noticed Milo had some insecurity issues (which he does, for sure). Normally, he’ll bark at strangers in the park but since he’s come home, he hasn’t barked at anyone nor challenged other male dogs. And he’s more actively playing with other dogs rather than just sniffing about and peeing. Seems like he’s turned a small corner for the better.  Thank you!  Daegan

Aliki and Sullivan (German long hair pointer) March, 2010

Sullivan gets so excited when i turn off the freeway towards run free canine center.
He loves it there, and i love that he loves it!
He is so happy when he is there.. he gets plenty of love and exercise.. and his raw diet is not an issue at all!  i don’t even think twice when i am going out of town, because i know he’ll be in great hands when i’m gone! thanks Jenny and Karl!!

Carol, Farhad and Kaya:

“Carol and I would like to thank you for looking after Kaya during our two weeks holiday. This was the first time we left her for an extended period of time and were very anxious about the whole thing. We really appreciated you keeping us updated about Kaya’s well being by sending us her pictures via email. We were impressed with your facilities and when we picked Kaya up she seemed calm, happy and comfortable around you and clearly liked you. When we took her home, she seemed calm and content. Every since the stay with you guys, she is less shy with other dogs, and she came back just a bit slimmer as she was getting lots of exercise with you. Next time we take the trip, we will send our dog for holidays of her own–at Run Free Canine. We would wholeheartedly recommend Run Free Canine to all dog owners and have been doing so in the dog park we frequent!”

Jennifer & Chris Procyshyn:

“We were so pleased with the treatment of our dog Freckles. RFCC is a wonderful kennel where the dogs get plenty of exercise. My dog is a sporting breed so she can’t be locked up in a typical kennel. She was relaxed and happy when we picked her up which was the true testament to how her stay went. Thanks Jenny & Karl, I highly recommend your kennel & now won’t consider going anywhere else”.

Julie from Jet City Jumpers Flyball Club, Seattle, Washington:

“Thank you for having us! Everyone I’ve talked with very much enjoyed the weekend. It was great to have the time to do additional flyball training and the swimming was an extra fun bonus for the group. Our dogs were exhausted — it was the quietest ride home from Canada that we’ve ever had. I’m sure the group will definitely be talking about trying to arrange another visit to RunFree Canine Centre. We very much appreciate your hospitality and a special thank you to Kris for spending so much time in the pool – she was probably wrinkled and happy to have the last of the group leave on Sunday. :-) ”

Joy from Jet City Jumpers Flyball Club, Seattle, Washington:

“The past weekend we went up to Langley BC to have a Flyball training retreat weekend at the RunFree Canine Centre that is owned by our friends Karl and Jenny from the Run Free Flyball Club. In addition to the covered Flyball arena, they also have a covered 4’ deep pool for swimming the dogs, complete with a current generator for resistance swim training. I took the dogs swimming three times, twice on Saturday and once on Sunday. My big goal for the weekend was to teach puppies to swim (and enjoy it), and I think that I managed to accomplish that. The Flyball parts of the weekend were also really helpful, and I think Jeff did a good job with arranging drills and doing some timing and video work that we don’t get the time to do at a normal practice. ”
Labrador mix and Husky Mix dogs swimming

Alyssa and Mike:

“Our Labrador mix Zeke is a natural swimmer and loves swimming laps in the pool, retrieving toys, swimming into the jet stream and biting at the waves. Zeke is a high-energy dog, although he is getting older and his joints won’t allow him to run or walk off all of his energy. Swimming has been a great way for him to get a cardio workout, build strength and expend energy. He is always so happy to go to the pool. He is always the first one in and the last one out of the pool. Our husky mix Sienna is not a natural swimmer or a great fan of water in general. Chris has worked hard with her to make sure she is comfortable and feels safe. From the first visit onward, she has been excited to go back to the Runfree Canine Centre and visit with Chris, although she was not so sure about the pool in the beginning. With each visit Sienna seems to take to swimming more and more, she even gets into the pool on her own now. We have seen great improvements in her swimming and her cardio since going to the pool. She has even lost some weight as a result of her weekly workouts. ”

Rachel & Gord May 2009:

“Gord and I want to thank you for taking care of Brutus. I was very anxious about leaving my lovebug Brutus for the first time. However while we were on vacation receiving your emails and pictures was very reassuring. He also came home a little slimmer. I guess I was giving him too many treats :) We are telling all our friends and family about your wonderful kennel. Brutus will be back for another week with you in July!! Thanks Jenny & Karl.”

Marlene Garnick May 2009:

“Tripp was recently diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia. All I could see was expensive vet bills. Jill at Life Without a Leash! introduced me to the Run Free Canine Centre Hydrotherapy Program and we haven’t looked back. Jenny and Karl are wonderful. They explained how everything would work in the pool, how it helps the dogs and what to expect in the future. Now Tripp is even swimming against the water jet!!! The swimming has even helped with Princess with her separation anxiety and she is becoming more independent of me. I totally recommend Run Free Canine Centre to anyone who has an animal with limited mobility; we are even boarding Tripp & Princess there when we are away on holidays!”
